Kentucky Medicaid Work Requirement Redo Comments Mostly Negative

Kentucky’s second-try comment period for its Medicaid work requirement waiver closed last weekend. And people sure did comment, but maybe not in the way proponents had hoped.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services received nearly 12,000 comments on the state’s second attempt at approval for its 80-hours-per-month work requirement application. But those comments were overwhelmingly negative, Dustin Pugel, policy analyst for the liberal Kentucky Center for Economic Policy, told Bloomberg Law Aug. 24.

Of the 9,300 unique comments, about 90.1 percent opposed the waiver, and those outnumbered the pro-waiver comments 20 to 1, according to a report by...
