Juul Pumps $11.5 Million Into San Francisco Vaping Initiative

Juul Labs Inc. has contributed $11.5 million to a tobacco industry-fueled November ballot initiative in its hometown of San Francisco that opponents say is an end-run around the city’s ban on e-cigarettes.

Juul is the largest contributor so far to the Coalition for Reasonable Vaping Regulation, the group behind the ballot drive. In the past week, it kicked in $7 million, bringing to $11.5 million its total donation, according to filings posted as of Sept. 25 by the San Francisco Ethics Commission.
