Indiana Asks SCOTUS to Review Ultrasound Abortion Law

Indiana wants the U.S. Supreme Court to review an appeals court decision blocking it from enforcing a law requiring a woman seeking an abortion to have an ultrasound examination 18 hours before the procedure.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit held the provision unconstitutional in July 2018, saying it placed an undue burden on a woman’s 14th Amendment right to abortion. The court denied a request for review by all its active judges, known as en banc review, Oct. 5, 2018.
