Illinois Man’s Suit Over Wife’s Infection-Related Death Revived

An Illinois widower’s suit against health-care providers over his wife’s death can proceed because dismissal was too harsh a sanction for his failure to meet a judge’s deadline for identifying expert witnesses, a state appeals court said.

The trial court used the wrong standard when it determined that Keith Anglin couldn’t introduce expert witness testimony in his suit against Carle Foundation Hospital and other providers, which resulted in the suit’s dismissal, the Illinois Appellate Court, Fourth District, said.
