Idaho Hospitals Must Give Prison Care Provider Billing Data

A prison health-care provider may force hospitals to turn over data about how much they charge different types of payers because that information is relevant to determining if it underpaid them for services rendered to prisoners, a federal court said.

The case brought by hospitals operated by Saint Alphonsus Health Alliance Inc. and St. Luke’s Health System Ltd. turns, in part, on determining the fair market value of the services they provided to prisoners served by Corizon Inc., the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho said.
