HIV Pilot Project to Get $30 Million Boost, HHS Official Says

Three or four hot spots hardest hit by the HIV epidemic will get an immediate jump start on federal efforts to combat the disease.

The Trump administration’s plan to cut new cases of HIV by 90 percent over the next decade won’t officially begin until next year. However, the Department of Health and Human Services has $30 million on hand for a pilot program to begin in a couple months, Assistant Secretary for Health Brett Giroir told Bloomberg Law in a May 14 interview.
