HHS Must Disclose Report on Indian Health Doctor’s Child Abuse

The New York Times and other media outlets will get access to a government report about a former Indian Health Services pediatrician convicted of sexually abusing American Indian children because FOIA doesn’t shield the document from disclosure, a federal court in New York said.

The Freedom of Information Act’s exemption for “medical quality assurance records” doesn’t apply to an independent contractor’s report of its investigation into Stanley Patrick Weber’s actions, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York said.
