Insurers that offer individual health plans on the Obamacare exchanges could see a reduction in the user fee associated with listing those plans if a proposed rule from the U.S. health agency becomes finalized.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services proposed Wednesday to lower the user fee for the federal exchange HealthCare.gov from 3.0% to 2.25% of the plans’ premiums for the 2022 benefit year. For states that run their own exchanges, the CMS proposed to reduce the fee for use of the federal platform to 1.75% of the premium.
