HHS Asks Ninth Circuit to Unblock Family Planning ‘Gag’ Rule

A new federal regulation limiting the amount of information about abortion federal family planning grant program participants may tell their clients should be allowed to take effect, the government said.

The U.S. Supreme Court affirmed the validity of a virtually identical rule nearly 30 years ago, and the law hasn’t changed significantly since then, the Secretary of Health and Human Services told the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit May 31.
