GOP Lawmakers Press Opioid Makers About Practices Pre-Crisis (2)

House Republicans are pushing opioid manufacturers for answers on their practices leading up to the opioid crisis, including interactions with the Food and Drug Administration.

Republican leaders of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, in letters released Tuesday, asked Insys Therapeutics Inc., Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, and Purdue Pharma LP to respond to questions they initially sent in August 2018 about possible breakdowns in the controlled substances supply chain.

All three companies are facing lawsuits over their roles in the deadly opioid crisis. More than 72,000 people died of a drug overdose in 2017, and 40,000 of those were caused...
