Gilead HIV Drug Product Liability Suits Combined Before One Judge

Three suits alleging Gilead Sciences Inc. purposefully delayed introducing safer HIV drugs to maximize profits will proceed before a single federal judge in California.

Judge Jon S. Tigar of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California May 21 granted a joint motion by Gilead and the plaintiffs to combine the three cases for pretrial purposes.

The plaintiffs allege Gilead failed to warn that drugs containing tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) can cause bone loss and kidney damage.
