Fertility Doctor Who Used Own Sperm Must Face Similar Acts Proof

A Vermont couple whose fertility doctor admitted to fathering their daughter can introduce evidence at trial that he engaged in similar conduct with another patient to help prove their punitive damages claim, a federal trial court said.

John Boyd Coates, who used his own sperm without telling Cheryl Rousseau during a 1977 artificial insemination procedure, failed to convince the U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont to bar testimony about his fertility treatment of the other patient, identified as SB.
