FDA Probes for Bootleg E-Cigarette, Vape Data on Lung Illnesses

The FDA is probing the scientific community for more data on the types of bootlegged vapes that caused an outbreak of lung illnesses in the last several months and sparked a national debate on vaping safety.

Congress asked the agency to look into the vape market and how it can prevent consumers from adding substances like THC liquid that haven’t been approved to pair with e-cigarette devices. THC is the psychoactive compound in marijuana that gets you high.
