Fast-Track Drug Imports From Canada, Senators Say

Three senators are urging the HHS to allow the importation of cheaper prescription drugs from Canada.

Sens. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa), John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) Feb. 14 asked Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price in a letter to use his statutory authority to fast-track the importation of prescription drugs from Canada. They said importation should be allowed under certain circumstances such as when there is a significant and unexplained price increase for a drug in the U.S. or when a drug is off patent or no longer marketed in the U.S. by the innovator company....
