Dream Team Pushes HHS Policy Envelope With High Risk of Lawsuits

The Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of General Counsel has become more willing to risk lawsuits over bold policy proposals since President Donald Trump took office. It added more than 100 lawyers in the past few years and helped the administration get an important win with a recent court ruling allowing the sale of short-term health insurance policies that don’t meet the Affordable Care Act’s standards.
