Doctor Wins Fight Against Disclosure of Disciplinary Board Info

Iowa’s medical licensing board will have to take down website entries containing “investigative information” about a physician because state law forbids the disclosure, the state’s top court said Friday.

The law unambiguously says information gathered by the Iowa Board of Medicine during an investigation into a doctor’s alleged misconduct shall be “privileged and confidential,” shielded from discovery, and inadmissible in civil and administrative proceedings, the Iowa Supreme Court said.
