Doctor Asks to Bar Proof of Other Child in Fertility Fraud Case

A doctor accused of using his own sperm in a procedure to help a patient conceive a child is asking a federal trial court to exclude all references to his allegedly similar conduct when artificially inseminating another patient.

There is no reason for a jury to hear testimony from a second patient, her ex-husband, and their child—who likely is a half-sister to plaintiff Cheryl and Peter Rousseaus’ daughter—because that evidence is irrelevant, John Boyd Coates told the U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont.
