Democrats Back $3 Billion Plan to Help Schools, College Students

House Education and Labor Committee Chairman Bobby Scott (D-Va.) introduced a measure to provide emergency relief to schools and colleges in response to the new coronavirus, matching an identical measure introduced in the Senate last week.

The bill (H.R. 6275) would provide $1.2 billion to help K-12 schools prepare for campus closures in response to the virus. It would allow another $1.2 billion in aid to college students affected by sudden campus closures, to meet basic needs such as food and housing.
