Decision Blocking Birth Control Opt-Out Rules Appealed

The government is appealing adecision blocking rules intended to allow employers who object on religious or moral grounds to opt out of providing health insurance that covers birth control.

The U.S. departments of Health and Human Services, Labor, and the Treasury Jan. 23 told the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California it is asking the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to overturn District Judge Haywood Gilliam’s order.
