Cybersecurity Agenda Advances As Congress Stalls: BGOV Analysis

Although prospects for congressional enactment of significant cybersecurity legislation in the near term continue to dim, several executive branch departments and independent agencies have embarked on activities that could profoundly affect company obligations in the cyber sphere.

A Bloomberg Government analysis finds that companies and other interested parties that focus their advocacy efforts solely on Congress are missing out on the opportunity to shape cybersecurity policy where it is currently being made.

Congress probably won’t enact legislation addressing key issues such as information sharing about cyberthreats and liability protection for companies that share information until 2015 at least 12 CARE 779, 7/11/14
