Channel to Resolve Drug Discount Disputes Under Executive Review

Low-income health centers that rely on discounts from drugmakers would have a formal channel to challenge drug charges thanks to a policy under review by the federal budget agency.

Drug companies have to sell discounted products to centers that treat primarily low-income patients or risk federal fines or having their products pulled from the Medicare and Medicaid drug programs. Those facilities can’t sue drugmakers directly if they feel they’ve been overcharged and would have no remedy without this dispute process.
