California Judge Denies Move to Block Transgender Care Subpoena

A federal judge declined to temporarily block a California children’s hospital from complying with a Trump administration investigation seeking medical records about transgender patients.

Judge P. Casey Pitts of the US District Court for the Northern District of California denied a request for a temporary restraining order stopping Stanford’s Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital from releasing the patients’ medical information as part of a Justice Department investigation. The DOJ in May issued a grand jury subpoena to the hospital for sensitive medical records about patients, prompting the plaintiffs to sue the hospital in attempt to stop its cooperation.
