BGOV OnPoint: Biden Revokes Medicaid Work Waivers

The Biden administration is withdrawing Medicaid waivers allowing states to impose work requirements on Medicaid beneficiaries that the Trump administration had granted.

Waivers can be issued for a variety of reasons allowing states to test programs that promote the goals of Medicaid. The Trump administration encouraged states to pursue waivers that would require certain beneficiaries to work, volunteer, or go to school as a condition of eligibility.
