BGOV Insight: Businesses Brace for Obama ‘Big Data’ Report

Whether technology companies will soon face intensified scrutiny and new White House proposals for regulation of their privacy practices may become clear in the next few days.

The Obama administration is in the late stages of its review of the implications of “big data” for privacy, the economy and public policy. President Barack Obama in a Jan. 17 speech directed Counselor to the President John Podesta to lead the review, which is supposed to conclude with a report to the president at the end of a 90-day period.
