Acclaimed Must Face Whistleblower’s Medicare Overbilling Claims

New Jersey-based Acclaimed Healthcare must face a False Claims Act whistleblower’s claims that it improperly billed Medicare and Tricare for new products when used products were provided to patients, and substituted inferior products for those prescribed, a federal court said.

Annetta Scibetta, a former Acclaimed customer service employee, pleaded specific facts with supporting documentation about patients for whom she alleged fraudulent claims were submitted, Judge Peter G. Sheridan of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey said in a Monday order.
