PricewaterhouseCoopers Fights Feds for SCOTUS Review of Pension

PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP on Monday continued its fight for U.S. Supreme Court review of a pension dispute, saying a recent government brief advising against hearing the case takes a “revisionist reading” of the law that “would have embarrassed even Soviet-era apparatchiks.”

The accounting firm responded to a May 25 amicus brief submitted by Acting Solicitor General Elizabeth B. Prelogar, who argued that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit correctly permitted PwC retirees to seek the simultaneous remedies of pension plan reformation and payment of benefits under the reformed plan’s terms.
