Consultation Launched Over Global Sustainability Reporting Rules

The body overseeing global financial accounting standards has launched a consultation over setting similar rules for sustainability reporting to create the first binding rules for companies.

The International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation, parent body of the International Accounting Standards Board, released a consultation paper Tuesday to gauge support for setting global sustainability reporting standards, perhaps creating a separate IASB-style body for sustainability. Feedback on the consultation is due by Dec. 31.
