Coinbase Global Inc. the U.S.’s biggest digital-currency exchange, wants Congress to create a separate federal regulator for digital assets, joining other companies and advocates with its own proposal for policing the cryptocurrency industry ahead of looming regulation.
The idea was part of a 28-proposal Coinbase released Thursday on how the industry should be regulated, and its Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad said the company hopes to talk with the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission about it.
