The Big Four accounting firms did significantly less consulting work for the UK government in 2022, despite a 12% surge in the overall market, according to a report Tuesday.
The Big Four’s government consulting work was valued at around £543 million ($650 million) in 2022, according to Tussell, a research firm that studies the UK public sector market. That was down 45% from the previous year, with all four of the firms losing business. The overall government consulting market—which also includes information technology and engineering—has been growing strongly, reaching £2.8 billion in 2022 from £700 million in 2016.
