Texas Doctors to Pay $3.9 Million in Drug Test Fraud Settlement

Two Texas physicians will pay $3.9 million to resolve allegations they violated the False Claims Act by billing Medicare, Medicaid, and TRICARE for unnecessary urine drug tests, the Department of Justice said Friday.

Robert Wills and Brannon Frank, formerly co-owners of now-defunct Austin Pain Associates, allegedly knowingly caused the submission of false claims to the healthcare programs by ordering tests without any individualized assessment of need, the DOJ said in an announcement.
