L.A. Housing Agency, DOJ Settle Fraud Claims for $3.1 Million

CRA/LA agreed to pay $3.1 million to resolve allegations it violated the False Claims Act by failing to comply with federal disability access requirements when it helped develop housing in the City of Los Angeles, the Justice Department announced.

CRA/LA is the successor to the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles, an agency that developed multifamily affordable housing with federal grants, the DOJ said in a Thursday announcement.

The settlement resolves claims that CRA/LA falsely claimed to comply with the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s accessibility requirements to receive the funds, the DOJ said.
