Senator Hagerty Asks SEC to Restrict Ex-Officials’ Work on ESG

Senator Bill Hagerty wants the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to restrict former employees from going to work in the private sector on issues related to global warming and ESG.

In a letter sent Friday to SEC Chair Gary Gensler, the Tennessee Republican asked the agency to bar ex-officials for one year after leaving the regulator from advising firms on how to comply with climate-related regulations that the agency in crafting. Hagerty also wants the commission to block former officials for two years from profiting from companies doing working on related issues.
