The Baltimore Orioles baseball club has the right to arbitrate a dispute with the Washington Nationals regarding the league’s financial interest in the Nats in front of the American Arbitration Association, a New York appeals court ruled Nov. 19.
The teams are contesting millions of dollars in fees for television rights. The dispute stems from the September 2005 partnership agreement giving Mid-Atlantic Sports Network the exclusive right to broadcast Orioles and Nationals games.
Under the agreement, the teams must first mediate any dispute. If mediation fails, then the teams go to arbitration before the commissioner of baseball.
