Ohio Governor Mike DeWine called for repealing and replacing a state law that subsidizes nuclear reactors owned by a former FirstEnergy Corp. subsidiary and has become embroiled in a federal racketeering probe.

DeWine, a Republican, said while he agrees with supporting nuclear energy, the bailout law is now “tainted” by the alleged conspiracy involving almost $61 million in bribes to Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder and others. The governor said the state legislature should quickly replace the law in an open process.
