Holcim Unit Faces Charges Over Crimes Against Humanity Role (1)

Cement maker Holcim Ltd.’s Lafargewas dragged further into allegations of possible crimes against humanity after the French unit was charged in a case over payments to a terrorist group to keep a plant operating in war-torn Syria.

The Paris court of appeals reinstated charges of complicity in the crimes during a non-public hearing, according to a lawyer for Lafarge, Christophe Ingrain. The Wednesday decision is in line with guidance last year from the country’s top judges who had toppled a prior decision to dismiss the accusations.
