Youth Climate Suit Draws Support from Abortion, Emissions Cases

Attorneys for 21 youth plaintiffs told an Oregon district judge that recent Supreme Court opinions on abortion and EPA authority bolster their bid to let an amended complaint in their climate case proceed.

In a notice filed Wednesday, attorneys for the youth in Juliana v. U.S. wrote that the Supreme Court’s decision in West Virginia v. EPA reinforces the Environmental Protection Agency’s responsibility to regulate carbon as an air pollutant that can endanger public health.
