Wyoming Blasts Interior’s ‘Shoot First’ Tack to Oil Leasing (1)

The Interior Department failed to “involve the public, provide an explanation, or consider any environmental impacts” before pausing the federal oil and gas leasing program, Wyoming says in a filing urging a federal court in the state to undo the action.

The department’s suspension violated the National Environmental Policy Act and the Mineral Leasing Act’s mandate to hold quarterly lease sales, according to the motion for preliminary injunction filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming.
