Federal Workshop Skirts Road Map on ‘Forever Chemicals’ (1)

Federal agencies will detail ongoing research to understand the health effects of so-called forever chemicals at a workshop this week—but the meeting won’t produce a plan to answer the many questions communities, states, and companies face about these chemicals.

More than a dozen federal agencies attending a National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine workshop on Monday described studies they’re carrying out or funding for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, a group that contains persistent and toxic chemicals that have prompted state regulations.
