Wood Stove Lobbying Pays Off as Retailers Win Time to Sell Stock (2)

Wood stove retailers won more time to sell less efficient and more polluting appliances after lobbying the EPA.

The campaign to delay compliance deadlines occurred while the group teamed up with pellet makers to sue the Environmental Protection Agency over the rules.

The Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association has lobbied the EPA since April 2017 to delay compliance with an Obama-era rule (RIN:2060-AP93) requiring manufacturers to redesign wood heaters to be cleaner and lower emitting by May 2020, according to records from the Senate Office of Public Records.
