Wisconsin Issues ‘Do Not Eat’ Advisory for Some Deer Liver (1)

Wisconsin environmental and health agencies on Tuesday issued a “do not eat” advisory for some deer livers after finding significant levels of “forever chemicals” in the livers of white-tailed deer taken near a Johnson Controls International Plc facility.

The U.S. Agriculture Department killed 20 deer in February near a Johnson Controls facility in Marinette, Wis., and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) tested their muscle, heart, and liver tissue for the presence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, a group of highly persistent chemicals used in many household products such as food packaging and cookware.
