Wisconsin Governor, Legislators Push for More PFAS Protections

Wisconsin legislation to prevent water and soil contamination by “forever chemicals” could be approved and sent to Gov. Tony Evers (D) before the Legislature’s abbreviated 2020 session ends in March, a lawmaker involved in negotiations over the bill said.

State Rep. John Nygren (R) said in an interview that new legislation dealing with the negative effects of per- or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), known as “forever chemicals” because of their persistence in humans and the environment, could be introduced as early as Jan. 27.
