Water Projects Set to Get Air Pollution Money in California Bill

California state legislators have directed more than $1 billion in air pollution reduction money to be used for water system projects to ensure that residents have safe and affordable drinking water supplies.

The state Senate cleared a bill July 8 that would take $130 million annually from a greenhouse gas reduction fund for 10 years beginning next year to help systems remove nitrates, arsenic, heavy metals, and other contaminants.
