Washington Seeks Fast Action on Hanford Worker Protections

Washington state is seeking a preliminary injunction requiring that the Department of Energy take immediate action to protect workers at the Hanford Nuclear Site from harmful chemical vapors.

In a motion filed at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington, attorneys with the office of Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson argue workers face imminent harm if the Energy Department waits until the outcome of a trial scheduled for May 2017 to more aggressively stem worker exposures (Hanford Challenge et al v. Moniz et al, E.D. Wash., 4:15-cv-05086, motion filed 7/21/16).
