Virginia Electric Must Face Claims Over Power Plant Pollution

Virginia Electric & Power Co. must face claims that its West Virginia power plant polluted waters in violation of federal water law and the state’s water pollution permit, a federal judge ruled, finding that a fisherman’s desire to fish in the affected river is an injury sufficient for standing.

Potomac Riverkeeper and the Sierra Club sued the company earlier this month, arguing that its release of heated water from its Mt. Storm Power Station in Mt.
