U.S. Eyes California Coast for Offshore Wind Development (4)

The Trump administration plans to move this year toward leasing the California coast for offshore wind development.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management will issue a call for information and nominations for offshore wind development in California later this year, Joan Barminski, the bureau’s regional director of the Pacific Outer Continental Shelf, said Oct. 17 at the American Wind Energy Association’s Offshore Windpower Conference in Washington.

The call for information and nominations is the bureau’s first step in creating “wind energy areas” that it will consider as ideal for future leasing for offshore wind farms. A...
