Union Carbide Urges Court to Allow West Virginia Remediation

Courtland Co. Inc.'s attempt to block Union Carbide Corp. from applying for a West Virginia contamination cleanup program is “senseless, inefficient,” and could set a precedent that functionally voids the program, the company told a federal court in the state.

Courtland failed to show that Union Carbide’s participation in the Voluntary Remediation Program will harm it even if its water pollution lawsuit succeeds, according to the filing in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
