U.S. Unveils More Stringent Building Code for Energy Efficiency

The Energy Department announces updated building energy codes that it says will save homes and businesses $138 billion over 30 years.

  • Agency says new codes will save 4.7% more energy for commercial buildings and 9.4% more energy for residential buildings compared to previous standards
