U.S. Loses Bid to Exit Chevron’s Molybdenum Mine Cleanup Suit

The federal government moved another step closer to facing a trial in Chevron’s suit over a New Mexico molybdenum mine’s cleanup bill after a federal court said issues of fact over its liability must still be resolved.

The U.S. argued Chevron Mining Inc. should pay for the entire cleanup because the company’s predecessor created and disposed of mine waste over decades of operations.
