U.S. Cheers Fossil Fuels, Derides Concerns at Climate Talks

The U.S. government promoted fossil fuels on the sidelines of the international climate talks on Dec. 10 as part of its rejection of action on climate change and the science that supports it.

U.S. fossil fuels “policy is not to ‘keep it in the ground,’ it is to use it in a way that’s clean and efficient,” P. Wells Griffith III, principal deputy assistant secretary for the Office of International Affairs at the U.S. Department of Energy, said at the White House-sponsored event at the talks in Katowice, Poland.
