Trump Ruling Nears Amid Lobbying Frenzy on Solar Panel Tariffs

Solar installers, project developers, and others fearful that President Donald Trump will move forward with tariffs on imported solar panels are engaged in a frenzy of last minute lobbying as the White House nears a decision in a trade case that has the potential to cripple their $20 billion industry.

Trump, who has a Jan. 26 deadline to make a decision, has wide latitude to choose recommendations from the International Trade Commission for import quotas or a range of tariffs of up to 35 percent, impose a remedy he sees fit—or do nothing at all.
